PARK COURT SHELTERED HOUSINGscheme
addition and renovation Park Court is a 12 storey sheltered housing scheme located in Boldmere, Birmingham. It is in
a residential area and this building is located adjacent to the local shopping area. The refurbishment of the building to improve the external fabric was also to include an improved residents common room. The original building had a common room which was a converted flat on the ground floor. This was well used by the elderly residents, and was a
focal point for social activities during the day, but was too small for their needs and had very poor links to the outside spaces. The client chose to go with the option to extend and we were able to create a stimulating and interesting space providing lounge areas linked to the outside, with good views of the gardens and street activity beyond, communal laundry and kitchenette areas, and an enhanced porch entrance to the block. |
